LG sells vented electric and gas dryers as well as hybrid condensing models that send their water out through a drain hose. Which of the three is installed decides whether a visit focuses on a duct, a gas supply or a drain line. ### The duct gets a score Many LG dryers rate how restricted the house exhaust is and display it as d75, d80, d90 or d95. That number describes the duct beyond the dryer, so the first work on these calls is usually the vent run rather than the machine itself. ### A code for a cold heater LG gives an electric dryer that tumbles with no current reaching its heater a code of its own, nP. The outlet, cord and breaker are therefore checked before anyone condemns the heating element, and LG sends owners to the breaker first as well. ### Gas models spell the problem An LG gas dryer that is short of gas shows letters that look like 9A5 but actually read GAS. A closed shutoff valve or a kinked supply line is ruled out before the burner is touched. ### Moisture strips under the filter Sensor drying depends on metal strips just below the lint filter. Residue on them brings up HS and a cycle that runs for hours, so wiping them clean is a quick test that can save a visit. Parts Sensors, heating parts and door switches for current LG dryers are ordinary catalog items, while a main control board is the part most likely to need ordering. The model number on the rating label is confirmed before any part is specified. Repair or replace Most LG code calls end at a sensor, a heater circuit or the vent, and none of those is a reason to replace the dryer. Should I keep using it? The d-numbers are LG's estimate of how blocked the exhaust duct is, so d80 means a real restriction outside the machine. Clean the lint filter, look over the duct behind the dryer for crushed or kinked sections, and confirm the outside hood opens. If the number keeps returning, book a vent cleaning; on a gas model LG adds that d80 can also mean the burner is not getting enough gas. ### Why does my electric LG dryer tumble but stay cold? If the display shows nP, the dryer is telling you no current is getting to the heater. Turn the dryer breaker off for at least ten seconds and back on, and make sure the cord is firmly in a grounded 240-volt outlet. When nP stays after that, the outlet and wiring are tested before the heater itself. ### Is the HS code on my LG dryer a broken sensor? Often it is not. HS means LG detected a problem with the humidity sensor, and its first step is simply to clean the sensor strips below the lint filter and let them dry. Book a visit if HS appears again after that. ### What does 9A5 on my LG gas dryer mean? LG explains that 9A5 is how its display spells the word GAS, meaning the dryer is not getting a proper gas supply.
