Clean Filter is a status light telling you it is time to clear the lint filter. It is a maintenance prompt built into the display, not a report of a broken part. GE dryer display What to do when Clean Filter shows on the dryer ### Kind of code Mode, not a failure A setting someone switched on, or a prompt the dryer shows by design — a child lock, a clean-the-lint-screen reminder, a demo setting. Nothing has failed and no part is needed. ### Usually leads to No repair Pull out the lint filter and wipe off the lint with moistened fingers. ### Shows up as Dryer Not Starting The panel lights up and responds, but pressing start does nothing or only makes a hum. ### Make GE Widely sold dryers in electric and gas versions, as standalone machines, stacked pairs and single-unit laundry centers. ### Source GE Appliances compact dryer owner's manual 49-3000311 (GFT14) GE compact dryers (GFT14 family) with a status display. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from GE's own guidance for Clean Filter on its dryers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Pull out the lint filter and wipe off the lint with moistened fingers. 02 Slide it back fully; the dryer should never run without it. 03 If drying stays slow with a clean filter, check the condenser box. ### Cleared? No part needed replacing. If the next full load still comes out damp or the dryer shuts off early, treat that as a separate problem. ### What not to do The light does not mean the filter is damaged. Only a torn screen needs replacing. ## What you may notice with it. The dryer problems Clean Filter tends to arrive with. Answer these at the dryer before anyone is booked. Pull out the lint filter and wipe off the lint with moistened fingers. ### How often does Clean Filter come on for a GE compact dryer? GE asks for the filter to be cleaned before each use, so treat the light as a backup reminder rather than the schedule. ### Can I run my GE compact dryer without the filter while it dries? No. GE says never to operate it without the filter in place, because lint would go straight into the dryer. --- **[Read on the site: GE dryer showing Clean Filter | DryerRepair.center](https://dryerrepair.center/error-codes/ge-clean-filter/)** **[Book a visit with DryerRepair.center](https://dryerrepair.center/schedule/)**
