PF records that the power went off, or dipped, while a cycle was running. Maytag adds that electrical noise on the line, or pressing keys within ten seconds of power returning, can also bring it up. Maytag dryer display What to do when PF shows on the dryer ### Kind of code Mode, not a failure A setting someone switched on, or a prompt the dryer shows by design — a child lock, a clean-the-lint-screen reminder, a demo setting. Each step comes from Maytag's own guidance for PF on its dryers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Touch and hold Start to resume the cycle, or press Power to clear the display. 02 After a real outage, turn the dryer's breaker off for five minutes, back on, and watch it for five minutes. 03 Book a visit only if PF keeps appearing with no outage. ### Cleared? No part needed replacing. If the next full load still comes out damp or the dryer shuts off early, treat that as a separate problem. ### What not to do PF is not a board failure. Touch and hold Start to resume the cycle, or press Power to clear the display. ### Why does my Maytag show PF when the lights never went out? Maytag notes that line noise the control reads as wrong voltage can trigger it, and so can pressing keys too soon after power returns. A brief dip you never noticed is enough. ### Do I have to restart the whole cycle after PF on a Maytag?
