Book a visit

Three short steps, about a minute.

or call (844) 314-5837

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Whirlpool's own guidance for F4 E3 on its dryers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Pull the lint screen and clean it, then look behind the dryer for a flattened or folded transition duct.

02

Go outside and check that the exhaust hood flap opens and is not packed with lint.

03

Run a heated Timed Dry cycle; if F4 E3 returns, have the full house vent run cleaned or book a visit to measure the airflow.

Still there?

It usually turns into vent cleaning and inspection. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

F4 E3 does not stop the dryer, which is why it gets ignored. The drum keeps turning and the code keeps returning until the air path is cleared.

What you may
notice with it.

The dryer problems F4 E3 tends to arrive with. Answer these at the dryer before anyone is booked.

Questions
about F4 E3.

Can I clear F4 E3 myself?
Pull the lint screen and clean it, then look behind the dryer for a flattened or folded transition duct. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Can I keep using my Whirlpool dryer while F4 E3 is showing?
The dryer will run, but every load takes longer and lint keeps collecting in the duct. Clear the screen and the vent path before the next few loads rather than living with the code.
F4 E3 came back right after I cleaned the lint screen. Why?
The screen is only the first stop; Whirlpool also names a crushed or kinked duct and a run with too many turns. If the duct behind the machine looks fine, the blockage is usually farther along, toward the outside hood.

Still showing F4 E3?

Book with the code exactly as displayed, the whole model number, and whether you smell burning or gas — for a code, that is where the diagnosis starts.
