Error codes

Dryer
error codes,
read properly.

A code narrows the search and is also the thing most often read wrong: the same characters mean different things on different brands, and a fair number of the codes people look up are not failures at all — they are modes the appliance was left in.

Three things before
you look it up.

A code is a lead, not a verdict. These decide whether the answer you find will be any use.

01

The characters as displayed

Every letter and digit, in sequence, and whether it flashes. Take a picture first — opening the door or pressing pause can erase some codes from the panel.

02

The whole model number

It sits on a label inside the door opening or on the back panel. One code can mean a vent problem on one make and a sensor problem on another.

03

Any burning or gas smell?

That answer decides whether you cut the power, leave the house and call the gas utility now, or simply book the next open slot.

What each kind
of code means.

Codes fall into a handful of families. The family says more about the likely repair than the characters do — and one of them is not a repair at all.

Questions about
the codes.

My dryer's code is not listed. What now?
It only means there is no documented page for it here yet; codes are added only when the maker's own material explains them. Write down the characters and whether they flash, and put them in the booking form so the technician can read them against your model.
Does one code mean the same thing on every make?
No. Characters that point to a restricted vent on one brand can point to a door switch or a sensor on another, and some makers changed meanings between generations. Always read a code against the make and, where it matters, the model.
Can I clear the code on my own?
Unplugging the dryer or switching off its breaker for a few minutes sometimes clears it, and a code that does not come back was often a one-time event. One that returns is reporting something real, and clearing it repeatedly only hides how often it happens.
The display shows a code but the dryer still heats. Is anything wrong?
Sometimes not. Several codes owners look up are reminders or locks — a clean-the-lint-screen prompt, a child lock, a demo setting — that change how the dryer behaves without anything failing. The code pages mark which ones are modes and how each is turned off.
