What is particular
to GE Profile.

The Profile line covers full-size front-load and top-load dryers in electric and gas, many with steam, Fabric Refresh and connected features, and the UltraFast Combo washer-dryer. The combo has its own code set, so its model number is needed before any code is looked up.

It can test its own vent

Many Profile dryers have a Vent Blocked light and a Vent + Test function that runs a venting system diagnostic. The result gives the visit a head start on whether a long dry time is the duct or the dryer.

A Fabric Refresh tank to keep filled

Models with Fabric Refresh warn with Tank Low when two loads remain and show Empty when the tank must be refilled before another Fabric Refresh cycle. A cycle that will not start with that option on may simply be waiting for a refill.

Control lock sits on another button

On the PTD90 family, the controls are locked and unlocked by holding the ecoDry button for three seconds, and the lock icon stays lit while locked. A panel that ignores every press is worth checking for this before anything else.

Washer Link needs Wi-Fi

Washer Link lets the dryer take its cycle from a paired washer through the SmartHQ app. Without a valid Wi-Fi connection, selecting it makes the Wi-Fi and Washer Link lights blink with an error tone, which is a network matter rather than a dryer repair.

Parts

Mechanical parts overlap widely with GE's main line. Control boards, sensors and the Fabric Refresh and steam parts are more model-specific and are ordered by the exact model number.

Repair or replace

Heat, airflow and sensor repairs on a Profile dryer are worth doing. A board failure on an older connected model is the case to compare against replacement.

What does Vent + Test do on my GE Profile dryer?
It runs a venting system diagnostic, so the dryer checks the exhaust path for you. If it or the Vent Blocked light points at the vent, clean the lint filter and duct before booking a visit.
My GE Profile panel does nothing when I press buttons. Is the board dead?
Check the control lock first. On the PTD90 models it is set and cleared by holding ecoDry for three seconds, and the Power button still works while locked. If the lock is off and the panel is still unresponsive, book a visit.
Why won't my Profile start a Fabric Refresh cycle?
When the display shows Empty, the Fabric Refresh tank must be refilled before another cycle with that option will run. Tank Low appears earlier, when about two loads are left.
