Electrolux dryers,
specifically.

Electrolux builds front-load electric and gas dryers, many with steam, sold as 300 to 600 series pairs with its washers. They have a clamshell lint filter, a moisture sensor at the front, and a steam valve on some models, and a few of the codes they display point to installation rather than failure.

The Electrolux lineup

What is particular
to Electrolux.

The range is organized into 300, 400, 500 and 600 series front-load dryers, with steam, sanitize and a drum light on the upper series; earlier Wave-Touch models used a touch display. The series tells a technician which options and sensors to expect.

A clamshell lint filter at the bottom

The LuxCare Lint Shield is a clamshell filter at the bottom of the door opening that opens with a button on top. Both faces have to be cleared, and lint left in the closed half is a common reason for slow drying.

An 18-month service interval

Electrolux asks for a qualified service professional to clean the cabinet interior, the lint screen housing and the exhaust duct every 18 months. A dryer past that point with long cycles is due for cleaning before parts.

Steam models need a water hookup

Steam dryers draw cold water through a hose kit that is sold separately, and they have a water valve inside. A steam model that runs normally but produces no steam starts with the supply and the hose, not the board.

Some codes are installation messages

Electrolux marks H4/B4 as incorrect wiring and a known installation issue, and Wave-Touch models run an install cycle that reports a miswired cord or no gas. Those point back to the hookup rather than to a failed dryer.

Parts

Common parts such as elements, igniters, belts and sensors are available by model number. Steam valves, display boards and older Wave-Touch parts can take longer to arrive.

Repair or replace

Most Electrolux dryer repairs, such as the lint path, a sensor, heat parts or the door latch, are worth doing on a front-load unit paired with a working washer. An older display-board failure is the case worth comparing against replacement.

Questions about
Electrolux dryers.

How do I clean the lint filter on an Electrolux dryer?
Pull the LuxCare Lint Shield straight up from the bottom of the door opening, press the button on top to open the clamshell, and clear both sides. Handle it by the frame rather than the mesh.
My Electrolux shows H4 or B4. Is the dryer broken?
Electrolux lists H4/B4 as incorrect wiring and calls it a known installation issue. It points to the power hookup, so the installer or an electrician is the first call; if the wiring checks out, book a visit.
Does an Electrolux steam dryer need a water line?
Yes. Steam models use a hose kit that is purchased separately and a cold water supply. No steam with the dryer otherwise working points first to that supply.
