Samsung sells electric and gas dryers with a digital display and simpler models that show problems as blinking lights instead. The heat source and the display type both change what a visit looks for.

A vent test built into the controls

Many Samsung dryers run a short vent blockage test from a button combination and report the result as a code. A clean result sends the diagnosis inside the dryer; a clog result sends it to the duct.

Heat that backs off on purpose

When a Samsung dryer senses that heat and moisture are not escaping, it can reduce or stop its heat to protect the vent. A lukewarm dryer on a blocked duct is behaving as designed, and replacing the heater would not fix it.

Two circuits on electric models

An electric Samsung draws on two circuits, and if only one trips the drum still turns while the heater stays cold. Cycling the breaker off and on is the first check on a spins-but-no-heat call.

Sensor bars at the front of the drum

Sensor Dry cycles end when two curved metal bars at the front of the drum feel dry laundry. Dryer-sheet film on those bars can end a cycle early with wet clothes, and a wipe with a drop of dish soap fixes it.

How do I run the vent test on my Samsung dryer?
With the drum cool and empty, press Adjust Time Up and Dry Level together until In or Ins shows, then press and hold Start/Pause and keep the door shut. Some models use Cycle 1 plus Wrinkle Prevent, or Air Fluff plus Wrinkle Prevent, to enter the test. A 0 or End result means the duct passed; CLg, Cg, C80 or C90 means it found a clog.
Why does my Samsung dryer spin but not heat?
On an electric model, one of the two household circuits may have tripped while the other still runs the drum. Turn the breaker off for 30 seconds and back on. If the heat is still missing, run the vent test, because the dryer also cuts heat when it senses a blocked exhaust.
My Samsung dryer stops after a few minutes and the clothes are soaking wet. What is wrong?
Samsung points to dirty moisture sensors for exactly that pattern. Wipe the two metal bars at the front of the drum with a soft cloth and a drop of dish soap, and dry at least about four towels' worth so the load actually touches them.
