What it
usually means.
A dryer does not use a water line, so water under one comes from the moisture it takes out of the clothes. A ventless condenser or heat-pump dryer collects that water in a container or pumps it to a drain; a full container, a kinked drain hose or a failed pump lets it spill. On a vented dryer, water usually means warm, damp exhaust is cooling in a long or cold duct and running back down to the dryer. Before blaming the dryer, check the washer beside it and any water supply nearby, since a leak there often reaches the dryer's floor first.
The 5 causes, cheapest first
Answer these first
Is the dryer ventless, with a water container or drain hose, or does it vent outside?
Is the water container full, cracked or seated crookedly?
Does the water appear only while the dryer runs, or also when it has been idle?
Is there water dripping from where the duct joins the dryer or the wall?
Is the washer next to it, or a hose or valve nearby, wet?
Check these

Dryer leaking water: 5 checks, and none of them costs anything.
Empty the water container and push it firmly back in until it seats.
Follow the drain hose on a ventless dryer and straighten any kink; check the hose end is not pushed too far into the drain.
Clean the condenser and any second filter as described in the dryer's manual.
Also worth checking
- Look at where the duct meets the dryer and the wall for drips on a vented dryer.
- Rule out the washer: check its hoses and the floor on its side as well.
How soon does it need a visit?
Not urgent. A small amount of water from a dryer is condensed moisture, not a supply leak. Unplug the dryer and dry the floor, and keep water away from the power cord and outlet until the source is found.

5 things dryer leaking water turns out to be, from water container full or not seated to condensation in a vent duct.
The cost guide-
01 no repair
Water container full or not seated
On a condenser or heat-pump dryer the container has to be emptied after most loads and pushed fully home. A container seated at an angle drips.
-
02 lowest
Kinked or blocked drain hose
When the dryer pumps to a drain, a kink, a clog of lint or a hose set too high backs the water up and it overflows inside the cabinet.
-
03 low to moderate
Failed condensate pump
The small pump that lifts water to the container or drain stops, and water collects in the base until it spills.
-
04 low
Clogged condenser or lint filter
Lint on the condenser or a blocked second filter slows airflow, and water forms where it should not, then drips from the base.
-
05 low
Condensation in a vent duct
A long duct through a cold space cools the damp exhaust until water forms and runs back. Insulating or shortening the run solves it.
